How it all began
I am Juanita, founder and owner of Afro-Latina Essentials. It all began with my personal experience. I was a product junkie hoarding everything I could get my hands on because my family suffers from skin conditions. However, all the products we tried couldn't help soothe our skins. So I started doing my research and experimenting with natural ingredients at home. Slowly but surely, I eventually cut out all chemical based products to only use natural, clean skincare. Today, I rarely wear makeup because my skin speaks for itself. As for my hair, it took me a little longer to get there. But 6 years ago, I finally let my hair go natural, and I haven't looked back.
Afro-Latina Essentials was born from my passion for making healthy choices for skincare and hair care. Finding a routine that worked for me and my family was truly empowering. Driven by that passion my mission became clear. I couldn’t keep this discovery to myself knowing that there are many men and women actively seeking solutions for their complexion challenges. As an American of Hispanic origin with a mixed family from Colombian to Costa Rican roots, I understand the challenges you face trying to find the right product for your skin tone and hair texture. But also, through my personal experience, I understand the benefits of using natural products. Therefore, after 6 years of making my own products at home, I decided to design a line of chemical free, natural, and plant-based products.
